Update - I guess my palate doesn't agree with the wine authorities in France because La Papesse was just refused the agrément or approval for the appellation. Apparently there is some bad blood, Gramenon's way of working and style of wine is so different from most of what is produced in Vinsobres that the folks that approve these wines have decided this wine isn't typical. It's a common problem in France, with great producers like Didier Barral in Faugères and Michel Brégeon in Muscadet often rejected appellation approval. You can't find Muscadet more typical or textbook than Brégeon's. Currently the Papesse is in limbo without a label, orders for New York and CA on hold, hopefully there is good news at the end of this story.
